A Foggy Beginning to Our Day – On our second day in the Page, Arizona area, we made our way to the Grand Canyon National Park’s North Rim. Leaving Page on US 89 you travel southwest for 20 miles or so before turning onto US 89 Alt and heading northwest towards Lees Ferry and the Colorado River where the road once again turns back to the southwest eventually getting to Jacob Lake. From there, a left turn towards the North Rim. We had been in and out of the fog for most of the drive to Lees Ferry, but after swinging back in a more southerly direction, the fog began to lift. Just as we were approaching Lees Ferry Lodge, which is closer to Marble Canyon than Lees Ferry, the sky began to brighten and the mountains to the north lit up. I stopped just prior to the entrance to the lodge and we walked back up the road to get this image and several others.
