Cabin in the Woods – This beautiful cabin in the woods is actually the registration cabin at Indian Creek Campground in Yellowstone National Park. I made this photograph on September 9, 2016, which was the day the campground closed for the season. As campground hosts, we are often questioned as to why the park closes some of the campgrounds so early. Well, this is one reason. Another equally if not the more important reason is that for the week preceding, the nighttime temperatures were well below freezing. It has been my personal observation that few of the late summer visitors are properly equipped to handle the cold. This results in behaviors that can put the camper’s lives in danger. My personal opinion is that the park has the closing dates right.
