Galapagos Flycatcher – Santiago Island

Galapagos Flycatcher 1

We found this Galapagos Flycatcher while on a morning excursion to Puerto Egas on the Island of Santiago. We were hiking along a trail that paralleled the shoreline for about a half mile before turning across the island and heading back toward our landing point.

It wasn’t long before we encountered this Galapagos Flycatcher, who seemed to be waiting for us. He came well within cellphone photo range.

He even landed on the edge of a cellphone while others in the group took photos of him.

I got several photos of him, many of which captured him in his natural habitat rather than on someone’s phone. This was the first “keeper” I took.
