Galapagos Mockingbirds Interacting

Galapagos Mockingbirds interaction

While we waited for the group to get together for our hike on Santa Fe Island, I spotted two Galapagos Mockingbirds. They were either quarreling over territory or going through their mating ritual.

It is impossible to tell when birds are fighting without corresponding vocalizations. I heard none! I may not remember they were vocalizing because I was singularly focused on the action, but I remember mostly silent activity.

The event lasted only several seconds. Then they stopped, but they didn’t immediately fly away.
