Land Iguana on Santa Fe Island, The Galapagos

I had to work to get these photos of these restless reptiles.

I found it was worth the chase and the wait to get a decent look and photograph it.

While there are many similarities between Land and Marine Iguanas, the differences are obvious. The color differences could not be more pronounced. The sharp spines of the Marine Iguana make the larger, duller spines of the Land Iguana look more like an afterthought.

I love the bright red eye of the Land Iguana.

All in all, for me, the Land Iguana just looks friendlier.
